The Square Root, tucked just off Main Street, is frequently cited as one of the town's better casual-upscale kitchens; its most-mentioned dish across recent reviews and local write-ups is a crawfish-stuffed NC mountain trout served with lobster mornay, pimento cheese grits, and braised collards, a reasonable signal of the kitchen's approach: Southern ingredients, French technique. Wild Morel, on West Main Street, leans more explicitly French-and-Italian, rustic and seasonal, and is described in recent coverage as farm-to-table in sourcing.

Everyday Downtown Dining

The Falls Landing has operated on East Main Street since 1993, making it one of the longest-running restaurants in town; it's primarily known for seafood, oysters, scallops, salmon, alongside steaks and burgers, and its limited weekly hours (closed Sunday and Monday, with a midday-and-evening service split on other days) mean reservations are worth making ahead, especially for dinner. Several downtown Brevard restaurants keep shorter or split hours than visitors from larger cities might expect; check current hours directly before making the trip, particularly on Sundays and Mondays, when multiple kitchens close. Weekend dinner reservations are advisable during leaf season in October and around White Squirrel Weekend in May, when downtown fills up fast.
