Paducah's lodging options split cleanly into two categories: a handful of hotels genuinely inside or bordering the historic downtown/Lower Town core, and a larger cluster of chain properties out along the I-24 corridor. Which one makes sense depends heavily on whether you plan to walk to the murals and galleries or just need a bed near the highway.

Downtown and Riverfront

Holiday Inn Paducah Riverfront, at 600 North 4th Street, sits directly along the Ohio River within walking distance of the floodwall murals and downtown, and is the most centrally located full-service hotel in the city — useful if riverfront proximity matters more than boutique character. For a smaller, more historic-feeling option, The 1857 Hotel sits on Kentucky Avenue in the downtown core, close enough to the National Quilt Museum for several recent traveler accounts to describe it as a short walk away; treat "riverside" descriptions in third-party listings loosely, since it sits a few blocks back from the water rather than directly on it.

Near Lower Town Arts District

Several independent guesthouses and bed-and-breakfast operators run out of restored Victorian homes in and around the historic Lower Town neighborhood itself, putting guests inside the actual Artist Relocation Program footprint rather than merely adjacent to it — a meaningfully different experience, since Lower Town's houses double as working studios. We were not able to independently verify a current street address for every guesthouse operator in this category, so confirm exact location and current booking status directly with the property before relying on it for a Lower Town-specific stay.

Chain Hotels Off I-24

Drury Inn & Suites Paducah, on Hinkleville Road in the Concord area, represents the more typical highway-corridor option: a reliable chain property with the amenities travelers expect, but a car ride rather than a walk from downtown and Lower Town. This corridor is where most of Paducah's national hotel brands cluster, and it's the more practical base if your trip also involves driving on to Nashville, St. Louis, or Memphis.

Booking Tips

Downtown and Lower Town-adjacent rooms sell out fastest around AQS QuiltWeek in late April and Barbecue on the River in September — both dates when Paducah's relatively small hotel inventory gets stretched thin. Outside those weeks, availability downtown is generally reasonable, but it's still worth booking a few weeks ahead if a specific downtown or Lower Town property matters to your plans.
